What the f*** is Game Design

I spent little under a hour to read through these readings and only manged to get passed the first one on what is a game really?, But I took up a lot of information from what I did gather and I am very interested in this topic and let me explain why.

In  games there always needs to be a outcome, or an objective you need to overcome. That could be beating the boss in the end or if its something like just beating your friends  and there being a set of rules according to David Parlett. I believe this is true. I think for anyone to have a successful game there needs to be a good outcome unless their game is story based like my personal favourites GTA and Red Dead Redemption.

Another thing I have found interesting in this reading is that repetitive saying of "Games are a form of art" And I could agree more, Down from the graphics, down to the rules they are a sight to behold. Games being art is something I have never heard of but it is so true.

And also seeing all the things that can define a game like the different elements such as, "Games have an activity, Games have rules, games have conflict, games have goals, Games involve decision making" are all solid points into playing a game and I have come across them the most while I do play games especially the fact that games have goals. It could be to hit a certain score or to reach the objective these are all goals that people need to do to win the game and do bring the game to a competitive and fun concept and these are my favourite types of games

After reading this article I believe I am ready to start creating my own  game. There was a lot of good points and hints on how to do so especially just for a small starter one just for my project this year. A lot of work will go into it hopefully and it will be something everyone can enjoy
