Game treatment

After brainstorming last week I have settled on making a 2D platformer game with using the inspiration of the popular mobile game geometry dash. This game will be a simple platformer. I will used a patterned  image games background while the  character jumps on platform to platform. I would like to go with a Red and Black theme. The background will be red as the platform the player plays on will black. I intend on making a character rather than a shape. But I believe this may make it hard to see him if the background is heavily patterned. Also the characters clothing will have to be bright to make sure he is the outstanding point of the game alongside obstacles in the game so the player can see where they are and be able to avoid them.  I will have to look around YouTube and unity to try help me find different parts of scripting that will help me. But I believe it will be the basics I will need with making rigid bodies and colliders and also player movement. I will ...

Game Prototype

This week I finally got to start my game, it was over whelming to begin with as I did struggle using unity by myself. A big thing that helped when when doing my game so far is watching back on the tutorials and taking bits of inspiration from them. I found myself misspelling a lot of the code which was frustrating when you can not find the source of the problem.  So far for my game I have my models laid out and ready to use. I am trying to find a suitable background for this. but I do just like the blank back drop to it. Game mechanics wise I have my side to side movement ready to use . My goals for after this is to get my player able to shoot and the enemies to respawn. I feel like that will be the tricky part if I am mixing different tutorials and then the coding will become more tricky to use. The main problem I had this week was getting started and where to start. But I got there in the end and has a somewhat successful start after laying down the basics

Unity Tutorial 06

This weeks Unity Tutorial was a bit different as we got to learn more on how to animate a game which I find very useful and I would love to be able to implement it into my own game some how as I believe it will make the game look very nice Unity Tutorial 3.3 I started off this tutorial by exploring the player aminations for the character, as I mention just before I would love to put this into my own game as I think it would benefit my game and make it look a lot nicer. After this we started adding these features into my game. I ran into a few difficulties when the player hit the object he would not do the animation for when he would fall. But looking into my code it was a problem with my if statement which I managed to fix when looking back over the code. The animating of the game was very fun to do and it is something I will enjoy putting into mine Unity Tutorial 3.4 Going into this tutorial I was confused at first, but after doing all the tutorials I found that it was not as complica...

Games Decisions

This Flow channel makes the player interested because there is a good flow of difficulty and the player has actual fun playing the game. I will show a chart on how this works. But I personally think this is something smart that game designers do and I have found myself fallen into all the categories when the game is too hard or too easy or just that its perfect for me  If you start the game too easy and remains that way. People will get bored too easy and lose interest on what is going on. But if the game is too difficult from the beginning the player will become stressed and anxious and not wanting to play. But if you start you game easily and slowly let the challenges get harder and the player skill increases you get the Flow Channel and this is where game designers are smart about making their games  After this weeks reading I have learned a lot about Flow Designs, about what they are, what they do and how they can affect the game itself. I will give my thoughts about it do...
