Game Fun

 This week for my reading we learned about games and what makes them fun and enjoyable to play through out them and some of the elements I will discuss.

Games are always made for you to learn more and try to improve on like games like chess or Mario. One of my favourite games to watch is Mario 64. And players trying to speed run like famous streamer Mizkif. Games like this help you learn new ways to play a game and try find patterns. Games like chess and poker would be considered type 1 based games. They are all about thinking. I do find this interesting because I never knew about these type 1 and 2 based games and how they do come into certain categories and people do find fun with have strategies to them. And then type 2 games are all about reflexes and quick thinking. This would come into games such as Mario. A bit more fast pace games and dont require as much thinking.


I am a type 2 base player. I don't like sitting around too much when it comes to games I like to get straight into the action and have fun that way. I think these type 1 and 2 base's and 2 separate ways to have fun in a game and both do appeal to me

Project Process

I have started to build my first 2D game today. I started this by opening up the Unity Hub and started a new project. I went into this project with one image only. That being a plain white square that I would use as my building blocks for making this game possible. I started off simple by making the white cube my player and added my movement script. So he can move side to side. I did say in my game document I would like it to be a constant movement to the right but I say it would be a little too difficult for the pace I had made the game. I had also added a jumping mechanic too to the player. I had also so far stuck with my colour scheme with the black and red I believe it works very well and it helps contrasts all the different surroundings in the game When I move on to next weeks tasks I will want it so the purple cube causes the player to die and restart at the start of the level again. I also need it so when the player falls through the map he also dies so I will need to try figure...

Reading 05

 After watching this weeks video about coding my work for the bibliography, I have found out how to do it and how it all works. I think this technique will be very useful for finding information when it comes down to making the final chapter for the book. I believe this technique is very useful and it takes very little time to do, as all you need to do is to skim through what I have already wrote down and find the themes that match the colours that represent them. I do believe that this coding and themes will help me when I start to write my final piece. The video I watched very helpful and having the lecture in person helped me understand this concept a lot more.
